Along the north shore of Lake Superior near Grand Portage MN, an object appears on the horizon. Know by the local Ojibwe as Hollow Rock, this object in the fading light resembles that of a nautical vessel. “Nemo’s Masterpiece” as I have titled this photograph sparked my imagination with the image of the famed Nautilus, captained by non other than Jules Verne's Captain Nemo himself. You can almost hear the sodium/mercury batteries charging her engines as she perpares to dive below the surface into the unknown.
Photographed on Fuji Velvia 50, Color Slide Film, Limited Edition of 300.
